Lab Certified Streetwise 18 Pepper Spray 1/2 oz
Although many brands claim to be the best, we recommend you consider the unbiased results of an independent laboratory* that tests the heat of the pepper once it is sprayed out of the can.
This Certified Heat Rating (CHR) measures how hot the pepper spray will be once it hits your attacker. Streetwise 18 Pepper Spray has a CHR of over 180,000 SHU making it one of the hottest, most effective self-defense sprays on the market.
For comparison, competing brands were tested by the independent laboratory. They found the average heat rating to be 123,000 SHU, making Streetwise 18 over 46% hotter than the competition!
Streetwise 18 is so potent that it can incapacitate an attacker for up to 45 minutes without causing any permanent harm.
Warning: some brands make exaggerated marketing claims. The only true way to know the actual effectiveness of a pepper spray is to have it tested by an independent laboratory.
For us, "Protecting What Matters Most" is more than just a slogan. It is our commitment to provide you with a top quality self-defense spray that you can rely on to protect what matters most to you.

How to protect yourself from exaggerated marketing claims...
Some brands are reputable and market their products accurately while others make unsubstantiated claims using big numbers to impress the consumer.
Some brands claim a certain percentage of pepper (15% OC, for example) while others make claims regarding the heat of the pepper BEFORE it is diluted with all the inactive ingredients (2,000,000 SHU, for example).
So how do these numbers relate to the actual heat rating of the pepper spray that hits your attacker?
The simple math will tell you that 15% of a 2 million SHU pepper would yield a Certified Heat Rating (CHR) of 300,000 SHU (.15 x 2,000,000). But remember the average heat rating of the brands we had tested by the independent lab was less than half of that (123,000).
Another leading brand tested 16 other brands and found their average heat rating to be 109,000 which indicates that there is something wrong with the claims made by most brands. That is why we say that the first step in protecting yourself from an attack is protecting yourself from exaggerated marketing claims.
Today's consumer is smart enough to know that any percentage and heat rating can be printed on a label so we have our pepper spray certified by the same independent laboratory (Chromtec LLC) that has been used by pepper spray manufacturers and the US government for over 40 years. This certificate is available upon request.
