It’s official, violent crime including murder and robbery are up for the second year in a row. Nationwide, there is a 3% increase in murder and 6.5% increase in robbery. An estimated 1.4 million violent crimes including murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults happened in 2006 alone!

All in all, violent crime nationwide increased by almost 2% last year and robbery increased 7% as violence rears it’s ugly head again as a major theme in large cities after more than a decade of decline.

The reason is because of the breakup of the crack-cocaine drug markets and a bigger police patrols in high crime areas of the country.

There is no way you can totally count on police or help from government to save you in a situation of life and death. You need a weapon. But what?

Tasers, stun guns are getting more and more prohibited by the law and Pepper Spray or Mace, while good to carry and use in times of stress need the attacker to be very close in order to disable him so you can escape.
