How SWAT C8 Pistol Compares To Pepper Spray, Tasers, Stun Guns

Posted by admin on November 4, 2007, and filed under Personal Protection, Self Defense, Stun Guns

In this article we compare the SWAT C8 Non Lethal Gun to other self defense products.

In terms of being lethal the SWAT C8 along with Pepper Spray is low to non lethal whereas stun guns and Tasers have some degree of being lethal.

Let’s explain first what the SWAT C8 pistol is.

Guns for Sale - SWAT C8 LauncherThe SWAT-C8 launcher is a pistol-sized less-lethal device that shoots up to eight .68 caliber PAVA filled projectiles at 400 feet per second. The SWAT-C8’s proprietary PAVA filled projectiles are less-lethal and utilize a multiple deterrent system. The suspect, if hit with the PAVA projectile, will experience three different deterrents; a loud bang when the SWAT-C8 is fired, pain from the impact causing a welt and bruising, and a strong chemical reaction causing a suspect’s breathing and vision to be temporarily impaired. With accuracy up to 75 feet, the SWAT-C8 generates an industry leading range for safe compliance and stopping power over conventional stun guns and pepper spray products currently being sold. The SWAT-C8’s unique rapid change magazine design houses both a disposable CO2 canister and 8 PAVA projectiles.

In terms of firing range the SWAT C8 has a firing range of 75 ft. which when posed with an attacker coming at you is good news. You can fire at him and disable him well before you are in any danger. Not true for pepper spray and Tasers. These have a range of only 12 to 15 feet.

The amount of rounds that can be fired at once can also be a factor when being threatened by multiple attackers. The SWAT C8 can fire 8 rounds in succession. With pepper spray you get 2 to 3 shots usually. And with stun guns and Tasers only one. The SWAT C8 also has the advantage of loading a separate magazine when 8 rounds have been fired. That way, you can have another magazine preloaded with 8 more rounds ready to go.

Now let’s talk about practice rounds. Just like a real gun, you need to practice to make sure you will hit your target when confronted in real life. With the SWAT C8, practice rounds are available so that you can practice on dummy’s or stationary targets so that your ready for the real thing. Now with some pepper sprays, there are pepper spray practice rounds you can purchase but many do not offer practice rounds. The same is true of Tasers and stun guns. You cannot use practice rounds, although you could taser your friend or relative but they won’t ever talk to you again after you do!

Now let’s discuss how potent the rounds are so that when you need to use your self protection device your going to do damage to your attacker. The rounds of the SWAT C8 launcher are high, regulated and pharmaceutical grade. Pepper spray has much less of an impact and is not regulated. On the other hand tasers and stun guns have high potency and some are even almost a million volts.

The cost of ownership may also be a factor. The SWAT C8 is affordable as well is pepper spray. Whereas professional tasers and stun guns and be too expensive to own and operate and may be uncomfortable to use. Some people also believe when they use a taser or stun gun that they will be shocked also.

Now we compare legality.

The SWAT C8 is legal in all  states except California, DC, Wisconsin, Delaware and must be purchased by a Federal Firearm Dealer in NY, NJ and MA. They are also legal in Mexico, South Africa, and South American countries so far. Even more countries will allow them as time goes by.

Pepper spray is legal in most states but not all countries. Tasers and Stun Guns however are not legal in many states and countries. Stun gun legality should be checked before purchasing one.
